Job Description Summary:
We are currently looking for a 2nd Shift Maintenance Technician for our manufacturing facility in Mundelein, IL. This is not a building maintenance position. The position requires the maintenance of the plant facility including the maintenance and repair of production equipment and maintaining storeroom inventory. Primary duties are to support operations by maintaining the equipment and facility with an emphasis on safety at an optimal level with the help of your team. The ideal candidate will have thorough knowledge and experience with pneumatic, hydraulic, and electronic/mechanical systems. Second shift hours are typically Monday through Friday, 3:00 pm to 1:30 am. This position may have daily or weekend overtime as dictated by the production schedule.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Maintains production and quality by ensuring operation of machinery and mechanical equipment
Perform preventative maintenance on the equipment as needed and overhaul the equipment when necessary
Ensures operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems and production machines
Following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions and engineering specifications
Troubleshoot and determine appropriate repairs, replace defective parts as needed, and maintain machinery and mechanical equipment
Locate sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation, listening for problems, using precision measuring and testing instruments
Removes defective parts by dismantling devices, using hoists, cranes, and hand and power tools and examining form and texture of parts
Determines changes in dimensional requirements of parts by inspecting used parts; using rulers, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments
Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments by using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs and straight edges
Conserves maintenance resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results
Maintains continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities and continuing needs
Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations
Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
Regular and predictable attendance, safely perform tasks, and adherence to all safety policies and procedures are essential functions of your job
To be considered for a Maintenance Technician position, the following conditions must be met:
Must be mechanically inclined and have at least 3 years' experience in Maintenance in an industrial plant
Ability to work with the production department to ensure timely repair of equipment is essential
Ability to work independently and proactively
Basic computer familiarity
Good organizational skills
Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude
Basic understanding of pneumatic and hydraulic systems
Ability to understand and work from mechanical and electrical drawings/prints
Experience with CNC and PLC systems
Some welding and pipe fitting experience necessary
Proficient troubleshooting skills
TPM (Total Preventative Maintenance)
Universal maintenance (well rounded)
Strong on Variable Frequency Drives (VFD's)
Knowledge of control circuit wiring 24VDC is a plus
Knowledge of local chemical waste removal codes is helpful
Ability to bend//twist, kneel/crawl, climb ladders, stoop/squat, and stoop/squat frequently
Ability to carry, reach, stand, walk, and use wrists/hands/fingers/shoulders/elbows constantly
Must have the ability to lift and/or move up to 75 lbs. unassisted on a frequent basis
Ability to work in varied temperatures consistent with same climate conditions of the region (Heat, humidity, etc.)
All shop power tools and welding equipment
All hand held tools and test equipment
Welding and electrical test meters and torch
Tape measure, distortion tester, recording instruments, nail guns, saw, glue guns, and Bandar
Forklift and Sizzor (Man) Lift
Personal tools are used

Noise levels in the work environment can be moderate to high.
The plant facility is subject to the same general climate conditions of the region (heat, cold, humidity, etc.).
Chemicals, dust, pollen, and other typical airborne particulate matter are present in the atmosphere of the production floor and may create some odors in the plant.
The Company, in an effort to provide its employees with a safe and healthy working environment, limits exposure to chemicals through written procedures, engineering controls, and PPE.
While some chemicals may pose health risks if not properly used, employees are trained on the proper safety equipment and procedures for handling chemicals.
While the chemical exposure and odors are under acceptable levels set by OSHA and the WCB, they nevertheless, can be smelled and are handled according to the company's hazardous communication program.
