Position Objectives / Responsibilities

The Ops Section Leader has 24/7 responsibility for leading, managing, and delivering performance expectations for a specific business unit (Cookies, Crackers or Snacks). This position directs Team Leaders and Ops Supervisors, as well as hourly production associates, to safely deliver quality products within contracted costs. The incumbent will ensure the efficient shift operation and execution of the site's targets, through the coordination of all available resources. This includes, leading projects to continually improve safety, cost, quality and productivity, while establishing appropriate line standards to maximize output, minimize cost, and facilitate the achievement of HACCP certification for the bakery.

Job Requirements
  • Problem Solving - addressing product quality, equipment breakdowns and machinery change over's
  • Manages equipment and employee concerns in order to improve line efficiencies using lean manufacturing principles
  • Lead the front-line team to deliver a safe working environment, producing quality products at or lower than contracted costs, meeting or surpassing delivery expectations
  • Oversight for hourly colleagues on a daily basis and supply coverage for vacations
  • Manage area performance and communicate expectations, KPI's, as well as, working with off shifts to improve overall performance
  • Coordinate and organize production, equipment, materials and staff in order to achieve the production schedule across 7 x 24 operation
  • Is responsible for ensuring that all food safety and quality issues are brought to the immediate attention of the Quality Leader
  • Drive continuous improvement process in area of responsibility through increasing associate engagement
  • Maintain a collaborative approach within the team while ensuring accountability of all team members
  • Lead projects to continually improve safety, quality, cost and reliability
  • Participate in new product development and support new product launches
  • Responsible for ensuring products are produced in accordance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Is responsible for ensuring that relevant GMP procedures are understood and adhered to
  • Ensure that all work is performed in a healthy and safe manner
  • Maintain and continually improve systems to manage our sanitation responsibilities, establishing and ensuring employee accountability
  • Set clear targets for continual improvement and monitor to ensure that they are met
  • Provide a safe and healthy environment for our employees, contractors and other visitors to our sites.
