MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Reporting directly to Business Unit Maintenance Leader the Controls Specialist is responsible for troubleshooting, modifying, maintaining electrical equipment and control systems to eradicate process and equipment losses; improve reliability, product cost, line efficiency and safety. WORKING RELATIONSHIPS Reports directly to the Business Unit Maintenance Leader with strong interface with the Maintenance Leader, Plant Electrical & Controls, M&R Leader, Area Process Engineer, Shift Leaders and Shift Technicians.
Provides subject matter expertise to the core team and works closely with operations and support functions to include Asset Reliability, Engineering, Safety, Quality, and IL6S.
Provides subject matter expertise to the core team and learns and participates in training of material coordinating with the E&T pillar (Training Modules)
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (include but are not limited to)
Subject Matter Expert (SME) for equipment and process in assigned area and provides technical leadership for delivering SQCDSM metrics
Actively participates in the IL6S process to include using the tools - RCA, Kaizens, SGA and guidance from the IL6S Pillars
Resolves remaining complex breakdowns and executes corrective and preventive tasks, responsible for Breakdown Analysis (BDA)
Provides accurate and timely data for the Daily Management System (DMS) process administration
Investigates, recommends and executes modifications to improve existing equipment performance
Monitors equipment and process in operation on a continual basis to detect problems; exercise judgment, and execute necessary adjustments while maintaining quality standards
Supports development of technical skills of core team
Performs low cost improvement and maintenance Capex
Deal with cost reduction and electronic spare parts optimization
Is responsible for the proper electrical documentation and regulatory compliance of equipment modifications and assigned projects.
Prepares working electrical drawings for proposed projects involving equipment modifications or conversions.
Assists the Engineering Manager in the planning and coordination of assigned project activities.
Has a thorough knowledge of Safety, Quality and GMP requirements, practices and procedures and applies this knowledge when proposing or designing equipment modifications.
Keeps the BUM & Maintenance Manager informed of technical and other issues affecting their area of responsibility.
Leads and/or participates in the effort to recruit Electrical Technicians.
Maintains a close relationship with Maintenance Leadership & the Asset Reliability function.
Supervises contracted work as required to assure it is performed in accordance with plant & corporate standards.
Supports the quality of all data in SAP (CMMS) to ensure accuracy, timing, etc.
Maintains clean working habits (5S)
Observe all safety rules and procedures; participate in all safety initiatives as required.
Responsible for personal compliance with all regulations, safety policies, and procedures that support Good Manufacturing Practices and Food Safety.
High School Diploma or Equivalent
Associates Degree - electrical/electronic field
5 years maintenance experience in industrial manufacturing setting
Strong technical, analytical & troubleshooting skills
Experience with TPM, 5s, and Integrated Lean 6 tools and concepts
Excellent communication (verbal & written)
Time management skills
Available to work flexible hours and days as needed to support the business
Basic financial & business understanding
Computer proficiency (MS, WORD, Excel, SAP, )
Project management skills
Cross functional knowledge and awareness a plus
